Bronco softball team edges Hermon, gains berth in championship round

LINCOLN — Bronco Little League of Hampden-Newburgh-Winterport scored 10 runs in the top of the sixth, then held off Hermon in the bottom of the sixth to earn a 32-30 victory in the District 3 ages 9-10 Little League softball tournament Friday held at Mattanawcook Academy.

The win puts Bronco Little League in the championship game on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., where they will play the winner of an elimination game between Lincoln and Hermon at 11 a.m.

A second championship game, if necessary, would be played on Sunday.

Bronco Little League was paced by Abby Lyons (double, single), Olivia Tolman (two singles, RBI) and Bailey Anderson (double, single).

Hermon was led by Makeila Beck (three-run homer, two singles, five RBIs), Mia Foley (four singles, RBI), Rachel Balmas (three singles, two doubles, three RBIs), Allison Rush (three singles, double, three RBIs), Faith Coombs (four singles, RBI), Charlotte Caron (three singles, RBI) and Leah Thibeault-Myatt (two singles, three RBIs).
