Man robs convenience store clerk at gunpoint in Falmouth

FALMOUTH, Maine — Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a convenience store clerk at gunpoint Friday morning.

Falmouth police Lt. John Kilbride said the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m.

The lieutenant said a clerk at the Irving Little Mart store on Route 1 was walking to his car with a bag of money he was taking to the bank to deposit when the suspect confronted him.

“He pointed the gun into him and said ‘give me the money,’” Kilbride said.

The clerk gave the suspect the entire bag consisting of an undisclosed amount of cash, Kilbride said. The robber then fled the scene.

The suspect is white, stands 5 feet, 11 inches tall and is in his 20s. He was wearing sunglasses, a black T-shirt and jean shorts at the time of the robbery. The perpetrator also has a shaved head.

The man escaped an an older-model black Nissan with tinted windows, Kilbride said. Falmouth police have alerted state police and Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies.
