Motor City’s Collins no-hits Acadians Legion baseball team

BANGOR, Maine — Cody Collins tossed the second Motor City no-hitter of the week as Motor City defeated the Acadians 6-0 in American Legion Zone 1 baseball action Thursday night at Husson University’s Winkin Complex.

Motor City’s Tyler Neville opened the season on Sunday with a no-hitter against Northern Lumber.

Against the Acadians, Collins went the distance needing 87 pitches. He struck out seven and walked one.

Evan Pelkey paced the offense with a two-run single. Tyler Eddy added two singles and Gabe Melmed scored twice for 2-2 Motor City. The game was played a day early to accommodate players from both teams participating in the East vs. West Maine Senior All-Star game set for Friday night at the University of Maine’s Mahaney Diamond.

The Acadians are now 2-2.
