STETSON and ATLANTA – Joan Christina Merrill, 64, passed away peacefully June 20, 2013, in Brewer. She was born June 29, 1948, daughter of Lewis and Christina (Goodwin) Merrill of Stetson.
Joan was a loving and devoted daughter, an exceptional sister, an adoring aunt and a loyal friend to many. Joan grew up in Stetson, graduating from East Corinth Academy in 1966. She then attended Beal’s Business College. Joan began her career in New Hampshire as a business accountant. She later moved to Atlanta and became part of LDDS Metro Media. Joan had a love for the farm and restored it as she remembered it as a child, although, her passion for her home was at Paces Place in Atlanta. Joan’s greatest joy came from being with her family for family holidays and gatherings and the days at Bar Harbor were some of her fondest memories. Her time with her nieces and nephews, were her most treasured memories, and when the next generation came they were the highlight of her life.
Joan is survived by four sisters, Ann Drew, Cheryl Pelky and husband, Al, Marilyn Merrill and Linda Wescott; special brother, Neil Merrill and wife, Elaine; nieces, Julie Sudsbury and husband, Stephen, Debbie Aptt and husband, Mark, and their children, Chelsey and Gracie, and Amy Turley and husband, Vince, and their children, Zachary, Alex and Spencer; nephew, Leslie Merrill and wife, Amy, and their children, Sarah and Timmy.
