CLINTON, Maine — A Clinton man was arrested Saturday evening after firing a gun on his River Road property, police said.

Clinton police and state police were called to the area at 9:20 p.m. when a River Road resident felt their house shake from what they felt was a loud explosion nearby, according to Clinton police Chief Craig Johnson.

Paul Gosselin, 52, is facing a Class C felony charge of reckless conduct with a firearm in connection with the incident, Johnson said.

Gosselin, who was also intoxicated, cooperated with police when they went to his residence to arrest him, Johnson said.

No gunfire was exchanged between police and the suspect, the chief said, and nobody was injured in the incident.

Gosselin was brought to the Waterville police station for booking and released on bail, Johnson said. His first court appearance is August 13 at Kennebec County Superior Court in Augusta.
