Police: Bangor man asleep at wheel found with heroin, marijuana

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor man asleep in his vehicle on Charles Street early Tuesday wound up under arrest when he was found with drugs, police say.

Kevin Reilly, 33, was asleep behind the wheel on the side of the road when police came upon him at about 2:45 a.m., according to Public Relations Officer Jason McAmbley.

When police woke Reilly up, a clear plastic bottle containing a glass pipe, a small scale and undisclosed amount of marijuana were found in his lap, McAmbley said, giving officers probable cause to search Reilly’s car.

Reilly fully cooperated with police, McAmbley said, exiting the car and handing officers the plastic bottle.

The search turned up a plastic bag containing more marijuana, a prescription bottle with heroin inside, a clear bottle with an unknown white pill and a glass pipe with marijuana residue, McAmbley said.

Reilly was placed under arrest and charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana and brought to Penobscot County Jail, where he remains, McAmbley said.
