Jay man pleads guilty to sexual assault charge

By Donna M. Perry, Sun Journal

FARMINGTON, Maine — A Jay man pleaded guilty Monday to sexually assaulting a child several years ago.

David Grover, 53, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of gross sexual assault in Franklin County Superior Court, according to court documents.

A conviction on the charge carries up to 10 years in prison.

The plea agreement dismissed two felony unlawful sexual contact charges.

Grover is expected to be sentenced this week but no date had been set Monday morning.

Jay police conducted an investigation that led to Grover’s arrest in June 2012 after the victim came forward to report incidents. The victim was between the ages of 9 and 15, when the incidents occurred, Jay police Detective Richard Caton IV said last year.
