JAY, Maine — A Chesterville man was injured Friday night after the motorcycle he was driving hit a deer on Route 133, a couple miles south of Bean’s Corner, Sgt. Troy Young said Monday.

John Swan, 59, was traveling south on Route 133 towards Livermore Falls about 11:25 p.m. when the bike and the doe collided, Young said.

Swan received abrasions and bruises to his leg and was taken by a NorthStar EMS ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, he said.

Jay firefighters responded to assist officer Russell Adams with the accident.

The doe died and was given to DEW Animal Kingdom & Sanctuary in Mt. Vernon, Young said.

The Yamaha 650 motorcycle was damaged and had to be towed from the site.
