BANGOR, Maine — A local man was arrested early Saturday after he threatened a female family member with a knife, police said.

Officers arrived at a Center Street address shortly after 9 a.m. for a domestic disturbance, according to Bangor Public Relations Officer Jason McAmbley.

Lewis Washington, 51, had allegedly threatened to stab the woman with a folding knife, according to McAmbley.

The woman was not injured during the dispute, but Washington was placed under arrest, McAmbley said.

He was booked on a domestic violence assault charge and taken to Penobscot County Jail. He was later released on bail, McAmbley said.
