BANGOR, Maine — A local woman who told police she was Sarah Palin when asked about a domestic assault wound up going to jail late Wednesday, according to police.

Emily Willett, 31, was extremely uncooperative with police as they questioned her and others at a State Street residence, according to Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards.

Police were originally sent to the scene when a disorderly situation was reported shortly after 10:30 p.m., the sergeant said.

When Officer Nick Huggins arrived and asked Willett for her identity, she told the officer she was the former Alaska governor but gave the officer her real date of birth, according to Edwards.

Huggins later learned that Willett had assaulted her boyfriend and placed her under arrest, the sergeant said. He added Willett had been drinking.

She was taken to Penobscot County Jail, where she remained Thursday.
