Bangor woman facing felony charge after allegedly assaulting boyfriend

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor woman is facing a felony charge after an assault on her boyfriend Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Candy Tower, 25, who has a prior domestic violence assault conviction on her record, is now facing a Class C felony charge, according to Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards.

Officer Keith Larby had gone to a Forest Avenue address when the assault was reported shortly after 4 p.m., Edwards said.

When the officer questioned Tower and the man, she stated they were on the verge of breaking up and some heated words were exchanged, the sergeant said.

Those words apparently led Tower to strike the man, and even though she claims it was in self-defense, police determined Tower was the aggressor and arrested her.

She remained at the Penobscot County Jail Thursday morning.
