CHARLESTON, Maine — Maine Department of Corrections Associate Commissioner Joe Fitzpatrick announced Wednesday that Jeffrey Morin has been hired as the superintendent at Mountain View Youth Development Center.

Morin, who had been serving as interim superintendent, has worked in both juvenile and adult corrections for more than 20 years and brings substantial experience with him to his new position, Fitzpatrick said.

“He has demonstrated strong leadership and an appreciation and understanding for both the operations and program sides of running a correctional facility,” Fitzpatrick said. “Jeff’s ability to oversee both juvenile and adult facilities speaks to his versatility as an administrator and his overall ability to effectively manage diverse correctional populations.”

Located in Charleston, Mountain View Youth Development Center is a 133-bed, secure juvenile facility that houses male and female juvenile offenders and male committed offenders from 11 to 21 years of age, with the majority being 16-19 years old.

The facility serves the northern, eastern and central regions of Maine, including Androscoggin, Aroostook, Franklin, Hancock, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Oxford, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Sagadahoc, Somerset, Waldo and Washington counties.
