DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — A celebration of the life of a teen who helped save a friend before drowning will be held on Friday evening.
Dacano Arno, 17, of Dover-Foxcroft, died on Monday evening after swimming in the Sebec River. He pushed another teen to safety before being pulled under the swift-flowing water.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday at the Kiwanis Park on Park Street from 5-9 p.m., according to his obituary. Arrangements are through the Lary Funeral Home.
Arno was a junior at Foxcroft Academy in Dover-Foxcroft, where he was popular with students from freshmen to seniors, according to Arnold Shorey, head of school.
Maine Warden Service Cpl. John MacDonald said on Wednesday that the drowning remains under investigation.
