KINGFIELD, Maine — A 27-year-old Franklin County woman is facing multiple charges after robbing a Kingfield pharmacy of drugs Monday afternoon, according to police.

Michelle Wilcox of Madrid Township is accused of robbery and theft of unscheduled drugs, according to Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols.

Wilcox entered the Western Maine Pharmacy at 238 Main St. shortly after 4:30 p.m. Monday, demanded drugs and handed a note to a clerk stating she had a weapon, according to Nichols.

The clerk complied, handing Wilcox an undisclosed amount of Suboxone pills, the sheriff said Tuesday. Wilcox, who was unarmed, subsequently fled the scene in a pickup truck. Suboxone is used to treat narcotic addiction.

Witness accounts and other information garnered at the scene led police to believe Wilcox was the prime suspect, which led Franklin County sheriff’s deputies to the town of Phillips, where WIlcox’s truck was spotted driving along Toothaker Pond Road, according to Nichols.

A traffic stop ensued and Wilcox was arrested, Nichols said. The drugs were recovered and Wilcox was brought to Franklin County Jail, where she is being held on $50,000 cash bail, the sheriff said.

CORRECTION:

An earlier version of this story requires correction. Michelle Wilcox is from Madrid Township, not Phillips.
