OLD TOWN, Maine — An Old Town man was arrested early Monday morning after being accused of assaulting his girlfriend, according to police.
Shilo Hodge, 32, who has a history of domestic violence arrests according to court listings printed in the Bangor Daily News, is facing a felony charge of domestic violence assault, according to Old Town police Capt. Kyle Smart.
Officers had gone to the couple’s apartment on Saturday evening for a welfare check after a call was made to police stating an assault may have taken place, but when nothing was amiss, officers left the scene, the police captain said.
Police were called to the residence again shortly after 2 a.m. Monday when the assault was reported, Smart said, and when they woke Hodge up, he had scratches on his face. He initially told police nothing happened between him and the woman, saying he didn’t want to get her in trouble.
The woman stated to police Monday that a lamp was thrown at her after they left the scene Saturday night, Smart said, and the arguing continued into Sunday night, the police captain said.
Hodge’s version of the story didn’t match up with that of the woman, and he was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence assault, according to Smart. He remained at the Penobscot County Jail Tuesday morning.
