BANGOR – Evelyn G. Mayhew, 92, died May 29, 2013, at a local health care center. She was born April 26, 1921, in Bangor, daughter of Bruce and Amy (Wotton) Giles.
Evelyn was a graduate of Bangor High School, class of 1940. She worked at Bangor Savings Bank for 37 years, retiring in 1986. Evelyn was a faithful member of Glad Tidings Church, Bangor, for more than 50 years.
Surviving is her husband, Robert G. McCullen of Bangor; son, Rev. Ronald Marr and wife, Mary, of Kissimmee, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Karen Rutherford and Sandra Bell, both of Dallas, Ore.; beloved grandchildren, Robyn and Randy Sims of Winter Garden, Fla., Tammy and Rick Cupoli, Ronda and Troy Freeman, all of Melbourne, Fla.; grandson, Rev. Timothy and Kimberly Marr of Kissimmee, Fla.; 11 great-grandchildren; and beloved niece, MaryAnn Higgins of Charleston. She was predeceased by a brother, Otis B. Giles.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4-6 p.m. Monday, June 3, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Glad Tidings Church, 1033 Broadway, Bangor, with the Rev. Ronald Morris officiating. Friends may also call 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
