U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, steps out of a booth at the Bangor Civic Center where she voted on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012.

Two tea party activists joked on a Wednesday conference call for immigration reform that the best way to get U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, to listen to Maine’s tea party bloc was to shoot her, according to a report on ThinkProgress.org.

A caller, who identified himself as Bob from Maine, reportedly asked, “I’m from Maine and our Tea Party will be meeting up next week. What is the best way that we can get our senator to listen to us?”

A second, unidentified caller responded, “Shoot her,” according to the report.

The threat was reportedly met with laughter.

The comments were made during a call hosted by the Eagle Forum group, according to the Huffington Post.

It was unclear from reports whether the call was public.
