Greenfield men indicted by Penobscot County grand jury on poaching charges

BANGOR, Maine — Three men from Greenfield face a total of 65 mostly hunting-related charges — one involving an untagged bobcat — after the Penobscot County grand jury handed up indictments Wednesday.

Adam M. Webber, 28, Shane L. Webber, 30, and Tobin W. White, 38, were caught in an investigation last fall by Maine game wardens, said Penobscot County District Attorney R. Christopher Almy.

“There are a lot of fish and game violations that came about as a result of an investigation over several weeks,” said Almy, who is not prosecuting the cases.

Adam Webber faces 27 charges — having a loaded gun in a vehicle, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, three counts of night hunting, hunting on Sunday, closed season violation, three counts of receiving stolen property, criminal simulation (removal or altering a serial number), nine counts of operating after revocation, unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of drugs, indecent conduct and disorderly conduct.

Shane Webber was indicted on four counts of receiving stolen property and criminal simulation.

White faces 28 charges — possession of untagged bobcat, three counts of possession of unregistered deer, four counts of night hunting, two counts of illuminating wild animals or birds, two counts of closed season violation, two counts of antlerless deer violations, criminal simulation, two counts of operating after suspension, 11 counts of receiving stolen property and two counts of unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs.

Details about what led to the charges and exactly where and when the crimes reportedly occurred was not available Wednesday.

CORRECTION:
