TOWNSHIP 17 RANGE 4 — A Sinclair man remains in a Bangor hospital after a weekend crash in northern Aroostook.
A spokesman for Eastern Maine Medical Center said Tuesday that Troy Theriault, 18, remains in fair condition at the facility.
Maine State Police Sgt. Josh Haines said in a written statement that the accident took place at approximately 1:15 p.m. Sunday in this township near the village of Guerette.
Haines said that Theriault was headed northbound in a 2003 Chevrolet truck on Route 161 when he failed to negotiate a curve, drove off the roadway and struck a culvert.
Theriault’s passenger, 17-year-old Jacob Boucher, injured his leg in the collision.
Both occupants were wearing seat belts.
Haines said neither teen initially was taken to the hospital and their injuries appeared minor at the scene.
The truck was towed from the scene.
Trooper Dan Marquis investigated the crash.
Correction: An earlier version of this story contained an error. Both occupants were wearing seat belts, not neither of them, as was initially reported.
