MARS HILL – Marion Elizabeth Dumond, 89, a loving mother and grandmother who cared deeply for her family, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Aroostook Health Center, Mars Hill. She was born Aug. 22, 1923, in Robinson, daughter of Bedford and Georgia (Dobson) Green.
Marion worked as a cook at the Presque Isle Air Force Base in the 1940s and then at the Mars Hill Nursing Home. She enjoyed cooking and knitting for her family and friends.
She is survived by son, Richard Callahan and wife, Erika, of Madison, Ala.; three daughters, Mary Tardy of Bridgeport, Conn., Ginger Cropley and husband, Milo, of Mars Hill and Geraldine Thibodeau of Westfield; brothers-in-law, Preston and Kenneth Dumond; sister-in-law, Judy Holmes; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a very special friend and roommate, Priscilla Smith of Mars Hill. Marion was predeceased by her parents; husband, Richard Dumond; and two sons, Robert and Gerald Dumond. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Aroostook Health Center for their loving care of Marion.
