BANGOR, Maine — Vote for Bangor and the downtown could get a free makeover courtesy of Benjamin Moore.

Bangor has been selected as one of 100 cities in the United States and Canada to compete online in the 130-year-old paint company’s “Main Street Matters” campaign.

The 20 top vote-getters will receive paint and supplies for railing, shutter and facade improvements, as well as consultation on the best materials to use and the services of professional painters.

“This will only be possible with everyone’s help,” said Jason Bird, Bangor’s downtown coordinator. “We need everyone to vote daily and spread the word.”

Voters are allowed to submit one ballot per day, according to Benjamin Moore contest rules. To vote, visit www.paintwhatmatters.com. Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. June 30.
