BANGOR AND GREENVILLE – Robert L. Tweedie, 91, died May 20, 2013, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born March 8, 1922, in Greenville, son of Charles L. and Maude J. (Hoyt) Tweedie.
Bob was a graduate of Greenville High School. He was employed with Great Northern Paper Co. for more than 40 years, retiring in 1984. Bob was a 50-year member of Pipe Fitters Union Local 485. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. Bob attained the rank of staff sergeant and participated in the Philippine Liberation. He was a member of International Order of Odd Fellows. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and square dancing. He and his wife lived at Brittany Estates, Leesburg, Fla., for many years, and they served on the committees of Brittany Estates Community Hall. Bob was a loving and caring, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 69 years, Alice; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Gloria Tweedie. Surviving are a son, Robert C. Tweedie and wife, Eilene, of Livermore; two daughters, June Johnston and husband, Wally, of Whitman, Mass., and Suzanne Hutchins and husband, Peter, of West Enfield; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. June 10 at Greenville Cemetery.
