BANGOR, Maine — A 21-year old transient accused of assaulting a man and a woman for no apparent reason Tuesday night remained behind bars Wednesday, police said.
Officers were sent to Court Street near the park around 10 p.m. when it was reported Tyler Poole was running around with no shirt on, according to Sgt. Paul Edwards.
A 21-year-old man told police Poole had beaten him and a 19-year-old female, according to Edwards. A motive for the assault was unknown.
“I don’t know if something was said back and forth,” said Edwards.
After speaking with the two who said they were assaulted and witnesses, Officer David Olmstead located a man matching Poole’s description and arrested him, the sergeant said.
Poole was charged with assault and carrying a concealed weapon, as he had brass knuckles on him, Edwards said. The brass knuckles were not used in the assault.
Poole remained at the Penobscot County Jail on Wednesday.
