EAST MILLINOCKET – Geraldine E. Wallace, 90, passed away at a local hospital May 20, 2013. She was born Oct. 10, 1922, in East Millinocket, daughter of Simon and Minnie (Baird) Brewer.
She attended schools in East Millinocket, graduating from Schenck High School, class of 1940. A year after graduation she married the love of her life, Lennie Wallace. Together they had three children, and in 1958 became owners of what everyone knows as Lennie’s Superette. She had a very busy life, raising her family and working at the store. She was also involved in American Legion Auxiliary, East Millinocket. She retired in 1978 and shortly thereafter she and Lennie started going to Port Charlotte, Fla., for the winters. She loved doing that and she loved spending time at Cedar Lake.
Geraldine is survived by son, James Wallace and wife, Peggy, of Medway; and daughter, Susan Grisham of Nashville, Tenn.; and daughter-in-law, Mitzi Wallace of Ridgely, Md.; grandchildren, Jaimie and wife, Michelle, Kim and husband, Bob, Mark and wife, Leslie, Melodi, Kevin and Christopher and wife, Danyelle; great-grandchildren, Josh, Morgan, Heather, Devon, Whitney, Jared, Darron, Storm, Joseph, Aiden, Madison, Liam, Addison, Kevin and Avery; great-great-grandchild, Jordan; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Jere; daughter-in-law, Bonnie; three sisters, Ruth Murray, Charlene Eaton and Janet Berrick; brother, Edwin Brewer; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Friends may visit with the family 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, with Deacon Danny Watson officiating. Interment will be at East Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in Geraldine’s memory may be made to Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O. Box 374, Millinocket, ME, 04462.
