CORINTH – Ernest H. Philbrick, also known as Mr. P., went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 18, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Dec. 4, 1946, in Bangor, to Harold and Francena Philbrick.
Ernie was a 1965 graduate of Maine Central Institute, Pittsfield. Upon graduation, he went into the U.S. Army and attended Sikorsky Aviation School for training in helicopters. He served two tours in Vietnam and successfully flew 25 missions over hostile territory for a three month period for which he received the Air Medal, 1st and 2nd Oakleaf Cluster Award. After the military, Ernie graduated from Iowa School of Technology. In January 1994 he founded Highview Christian Academy and served as headmaster and teacher for 20 years.
Ernest leaves behind his wife and teammate of 39 years, Mona-Jean E. (Niles) Philbrick of Corinth; along with children, Jay H. Philbrick and wife, Tara, Bryce E. Philbrick, Maria M. Philbrick, all from Corinth, Brandon T. Philbrick and Devan E. Philbrick of Bangor, Linda Pereira of Bangor, Gabriel P. Philbrick and Kathleen T. Philbrick of Corinth; grandchildren, Jade, Jana, Javona, Titus, Taylor, Aydan and Tanner. He also leaves his mom, Francena of Glenburn; two sisters, Sheila and husband, Bob Phelps, of Oklahoma and Carla Proctor of Pittsfield; five brothers-in-law, Derryl and wife, Lucretia, of Lincoln, Jerry and wife, Linda, of Florida, Norman and wife, Louise, of Howland, Gary and wife, Claudia, of Corinth and Jeffery and wife, Fay, of Corinth. Ernie also leaves a very close friend, Terry Campbell and wife, Donna, of Milford.
Services honoring and celebrating Ernie’s life will be held at Charleston Pentecostal Church. Viewing will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday, May 23, and the funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 24. A Military burial will be afterward at Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Highview Christian Academy, 739 Main Rd., Charleston, ME 04422.
