BANGOR – Antonio “Tony” Andrade Sr., 83, died May 19, 2013, after a long illness. He was born June 13, 1929, in Maderia, Portugal, son of Manuel Sr. and Isabel (Freitas) Andrade.
Tony served in the Portuguese armed forces. In 1954 he and Leontina (Coelho) were married. In 1969 he moved his family from the Azores Islands, Portugal, to the U.S. Tony was a mechanic for AJ Cole & Sons where he worked until his retirement. His accomplishments are on display at Cole Land Transportation Museum.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Manuel Jr. Tony is survived by his wife of 59 years, Leontina; brothers, Joao and David; sisters, Martina, Dulce, Feliz-Bella and Maria-Jose; sons, Antonio Andrade Jr. and wife, Beverly, of Hudson, and David Andrade and partner, Linda Rand, of Bangor; grandchildren, Joseph Andrade, Kristina Falls and husband, Aaron, and Darcy Andrade; and great-grandchildren, Isaac and Miranda Falls.
The family welcomes guests for a celebration of life reception 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Chopsticks, 167 Center St., Bangor.
