WATERVILLE, Maine — Four Waterville women were arrested early Sunday morning after a fight on Lower Main Street got out of control, police said.

Lacey Wilson, 27, Marcella Coffin, 23, Erica Ricker, 29, and Heather Spaulding, 28, were all charged with disorderly conduct, Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said Monday.

The trouble started around 1:30 a.m. on a Lower Main Street sidewalk, when police initially issued the women a warning and sent them on their way, Rumsey said.

About 45 minutes later, the same women started fighting on another downtown sidewalk, but this time Officer Tristan Russell wasn’t giving any warnings, Rumsey said.

The women were grabbing each other by the hair, throwing punches and tossing each other to the ground, said Rumsey.

Russell warned the women to stop and deployed his pepper spray when the suspects ignored him, the deputy chief said. The women then cooperated.

The foursome were placed under arrested, booked and then released on bail, Rumsey said. All four suspects are due in court July 16.
