WAYNE, Maine — A Leeds teenager is lucky to be alive after her vehicle flipped over in Wayne on Sunday, police said.
Katherine Boyman, 17, was driving east on Route 219 shortly after 1 p.m. when she lost control of her vehicle near the intersection with Stricklin Ferry Road, Lt. Ryan Reardon of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office said.
Reardon said Boyman’s Hyundai flipped twice before coming to rest on its roof. The teenager was wearing her safety belt, which likely saved her life, the lieutenant said.
Sgt. Scott Taylor indicated in his report that speed and distracted driving were factors in the crash, Reardon said. No charges are expected to be filed.
Boyman was treated at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for a shoulder injury and then released. Her vehicle was demolished.
