Bath police investigating report of naked man

By Dawn Gagnon, BDN Staff

BATH, Maine — Bath police are on the lookout for an adult male who reportedly exposed himself to a young girl.

The incident happened about 7:40 p.m. Friday while a 10-year-old girl who lives at Maritimes Apartments was playing near the fence that runs between the apartment complex and Oak Grove Cemetery, Bath police Chief Michael W. Field said in an alert issued Saturday morning.

The child told her mother that a naked man standing on the opposite side of the fence attempted to have her look at him, the chief said. The girl ran back to her house and reported the incident to her mother, Field said.

The mother went to the area and saw a Chevrolet SUV leaving. According to the mother, the last two letters on the vehicle’s license plate were TF.

The suspect is described as a heavy-set white male, 50 to 60 years old, with whitish-gray hair and no facial hair, Field said.

Police reportedly conducted a thorough search of the area and notified other local police departments. As of late Saturday morning, there were no other leads or witnesses.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the suspect or his vehicle should call the Bath Police Department at 443-5563.
