LIMESTONE, Maine — A Limestone man has been arrested by New York City police in connection with a homicide that occurred in Brooklyn in January.
Christian Ferdinand, 20, is accused of second-degree murder in the death of 14-year-old Shaniesha Forbes, according to Chief Stacey Mahan of the Limestone Police Department. Her body was found naked and charred on a beach in Brooklyn.
New York officials had contacted Limestone police in early March for assistance in locating Ferdinand for questioning, according to Mahan.
NYPD detectives and Maine State Police detectives met with Ferdinand in Limestone on May 13, and he was taken into custody after that meeting, the police chief said.
Ferdinand was brought back to New York for questioning after his arrest, Mahan said.
