Susie C. Calder

WHITING – Susie C. Calder, 83, went to be with the Lord May 8, 2013, with her family by her side at a Bangor hospital. She was born Dec. 29, 1929, in Lubec, the daughter of the late Arnold and Catherine (Murray) Knight.

She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lubec. She was a graduate of Lubec High School, class of 1948. She was proudly crowned Sardine Queen in 1949. She attended beautician school in Brewer and made that profession the love of her life, retiring in 2003. She was an avid hunter and a perfect marksman.

She will be sadly missed by daughter, Janice Bronson and husband, Rick; their two sons, Bobby and wife, Jennifer, and their three children, Emma, Gabby, and Brady and Marty and wife, LaHann, and their two children, Haley and Joelle; and daughter, Cathy Torrey and husband, Herb, and their daughter, Susan Smith and husband, Herb, and their children, Cailey and Mason; two sisters, Christine Riggs and Juanita Davis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

A Catholic Mass will be held noon May 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lubec, with the Very Rev. Eugene Gaffey Celebrant. Burial in Old Chapel Cemetery, Trescott, with a gathering afterward at the home of Janice Bronson, 80 Lubec Road, Whiting.
