WILTON, Maine — Police want to talk with a truck driver who offered a young girl a ride on the Temple Road on Wednesday afternoon.

“No crime was committed, but we would like to speak with the operator of the truck,” police Chief Heidi Wilcox said Thursday.

Police were called after an 11-year-old girl got off the bus about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and started walking on the Temple Road. She was approached by a man in a red truck.

The driver was described as about 40 years old with a faint mustache and a dark baseball hat. When he asked if she wanted a ride, she said no and kept walking, Wilcox said. The truck then turned around and came back toward her.

The truck is described as a red full-sized truck with a silver toolbox in the back. A gold and white logo is on the side of the truck, and there was lumber in the back that extended beyond the tailgate.

Police officers from the surrounding area were not able to locate the truck Wednesday, she said. They still want to talk with him, though, she said.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Wilton police at 645-3876.
