Stolen truck crashes in Orrington; Bucksport police investigating

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

ORRINGTON, Maine — A pickup truck that had been reported stolen in Bucksport on Wednesday crashed in Orrington early Thursday morning, police said.

Sgt. Jon Carson of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said the 2002 Chevrolet pickup was heading northbound on Route 15 when it struck an apple tree and a telephone pole near 279 River Road shortly after midnight.

The sergeant did not disclose the name of the male driver, who was not arrested. Police believe somebody picked him up at the scene.

“He was gone before we got there,” said Carson.

Bucksport Police Chief Sean Geagan said his department is handling the investigation. Geagan said no arrests have been made as of Friday morning, and Sgt. David Winchester is handling the case.

Geagan said no further details were immediately available.
