County native to become pastor of Calais church

Bishop Richard Malone, apostolic administrator for the Diocese of Portland, has announced priest assignments to take place in June, July and August.

Father Robert Lupo, parochial vicar of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Auburn and Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Norway, has been appointed pastor of St. Kateri Tekakwitha in Calais effective June 1. Lupo is originally from Caribou.

Father Joseph Cahill, parochial vicar of four parishes in Vicariate V: St. Joseph Parish in Bridgton, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Windham, St. Anne in Gorham and St. Anthony in Westbrook, has been appointed pastor of two parishes in Vicariate II: St. Agnes in Pittsfield and Our Lady of the Snows in Dexter, effective July 1.

Father Greg Dube, hospital chaplain at Maine Medical Center and Mercy Hospital in Portland, and also parochial vicar in the Portland Peninsula and Island Parishes (Cathedral Parish, Sacred Heart/St. Dominic Parish, St. Christopher Parish, St. Louis Parish and St. Peter Parish), has been appointed pastor of Holy Savior Parish in Rumford effective August 1.

Father Robert Vaillancourt, currently pastor of Holy Savior Parish in Rumford, has been assigned as hospital chaplain at Maine Medical Center and Mercy Hospital in Portland, and as parochial vicar with weekend responsibilities in the Portland Peninsula and Island Parishes, effective August 1. Vaillancourt previously served in Madawaska, Old Town and Bridgton, according to Bangor Daily News reports.

Father James Plourde, pastor of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish in Calais, has been appointed pastor of Notre Dame du Mont Carmel Parish in Madawaska, pastor of Our Lady of the Valley Parish in St. Agatha and administrator of St. Peter Chanel Parish in Van Buren effective June 1.

Father Kent Ouellette, pastor of Our Lady of the Snows in Dexter and St. Agnes in Pittsfield, has been assigned as parochial vicar of Notre Dame du Mont Carmel Parish in Madawaska, Our Lady of the Valley Parish in St. Agatha and St. Peter Chanel Parish in Van Buren. All three parishes are in Vicariate I. Assignment will be effective June 1.
