‘Tis the season for brook trout fishing

Old-timers will tell you that the brook trout fishing starts to get really good when the leaves on the alder trees get as big as a mouse’s ear. Recent warm weather has made anglers antsy, no matter what the alders may indicate or the mice might think. BDN visuals editor Brian Feulner took advantage of a warm spring day to try out the new fly rod he built while fishing the Union River near Amherst on Tuesday.
