Barbara Ellen Look

JONESBORO – Barbara Ellen Look, 76, left this earth Saturday, April 13, 2013, after a long, courageous battle with cancer at a Hancock assisted living facility. Barbara was born April 2, 1937, in Newark, N.J., daughter of William and Geneva Whitney Shadwell.
She graduated from Long Branch (N.J.) High School in 1954, and after, moved to Jonesboro in 1955. After her mother died at age 30, Barbara lived the rest of her childhood years with her aunt, Blanche Whitney. Barbara enjoyed spending time outside working on her lawn and flower gardens, and loved her cats, taking in many strays along the way.
She was predeceased by her parents; aunt, Blanche; husband, Welsley Look; brother, Merle Look of Alexandria, Va.; sister, Sally Chapman of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; and grandson, Sean Beaudoin. Barbara is survived by three sons, Kevin Feeney and partner, Deborah Cates, of Cutler, Leigh Feeney of Jonesboro, and Daniel Scott and wife, Janet, of Machias; one daughter, Joan Marie Scott of Machias; grandchildren, Colby, Daniel, Derek, Patrick, Meagan, Andrew, Katie, Matthew and Calli; many great-grandchildren; one brother, Don Shadwell and wife, Janice; one sister, Susan Dublin and husband, Peter; and very special friends, Donnalee Feeney of Roque Bluffs, Frank Merrill and Kathy Look, both of Jonesboro.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, May 12, at Forest Hill Cemetery, Jonesboro. A celebration of Barbara’s life, with family and friends will be held after the service at Jonesboro Community Center, next to the church on Look’s Point Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ARK Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 276, Cherryfield, ME 04622. Arrangements have been handled by the family.
