SACO, Maine — A Yarmouth man was arrested Tuesday after police say they found him walking naked along a trail at Cascade Falls Park.
Daniel Latham, 54, is facing a charge of indecent conduct, according to Saco Deputy Chief Jeffrey Holland.
Police had recently increased patrols at the park after members of the public complained of suspicious activity and illicit behavior in the park’s parking lot and on trails over the last couple of weeks, Holland said.
The park features trails and scenic waterfalls. It is part of the Saco Bay Trail System, a public park hiking trail system owned by the City of Saco.
On Tuesday, Saco Police Chief Bradley Paul and Sgt. Bruce Cote were patrolling in the area and decided to check the park, and checked multiple trails.
Shortly after the officers separated, Paul found Latham walking naked on one of the main trails with his genitals exposed to public view, the deputy chief said. Latham ignored Paul’s warning to stop and fled deeper into the woods.
Latham was caught after a short foot pursuit and taken into custody, Holland said. Latham was carrying clothing with him and other articles of clothing were discovered adjacent to the trail.
Latham was booked on a Class E misdemeanor charge of indecent conduct and released on $140 bail, Holland said. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 10.
