Police say Rockland man brought drugs into jail

By Stephen Betts, BDN Staff

ROCKLAND, Maine — A 30-year-old Rockland man who had failed to report to jail is facing additional charges.

Jason E. Kurr was arrested Monday evening and charged with failure to report. He was supposed to have reported to the Knox County Jail on March 8 on a conviction for operating without a license.

When he was taken to the jail, a corrections officer found a strip of suboxone in Kurr’s mouth, according to an affidavit filed by police in Rockland District Court.

Kurr told an officer that he had the suboxone on him when he was stopped in a vehicle by police and didn’t know what to do, so he initially hid it in his pants. When he got to jail, he moved it to his mouth, according to the affidavit.

Kurr then was charged with trafficking in prison contraband.

He is being held at the Knox County Jail.
