BATH, Maine — A Bath couple was arrested Tuesday and charged with trafficking in heroin.

Bath police Sgt. Dan Couture and Patrolman Ted Raedel pulled over a car driven by 31-year-old David Loewen in the Amato’s parking lot on Centre Street and arrested him on charges of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, namely heroin, according to a press release from Bath police Lt. Bob Savary.

Shortly thereafter, investigators went to the home the two share and arrested 20-year-old Danielle Harper. She was also charged with trafficking in heroin.

Savary said the arrests were the result of a continuing investigation and further arrests are expected.

Harper was released on $1,000 unsecured bail and is scheduled to appear in Bath Superior Court on July 9.

Loewen, who was on bail for an unrelated charge, was also charged with violation of conditions of release and was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. His bail was not available Wednesday.

Additional information was not available Wednesday evening.
