Woman charged with aggravated assault after allegedly slashing boyfriend with kitchen knife

WATERVILLE, Maine — A Waterville woman who called police early Sunday morning accusing her boyfriend of punching her wound up going to jail when it was determined she slashed him with a kitchen knife.

Fatiema Green, 25, was allegedly upset that the man was using his cellphone to contact another woman, according to Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey.

Officers responded to a Hathaway Street residence around 12:30 a.m. and learned Green attacked the man in attempt to get the phone away from him, according to Rumsey.

Green also slashed at one of his hands with the kitchen knife, the deputy chief said, resulting in a small wound on the man’s hand.

Green was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, a Class B felony, while the man did not require a hospital visit, Rumsey said.

Green was brought to Kennebec County Jail, where she remains. Her court date is scheduled for May 28.
