BANGOR – Errol R. Cleveland, 89, husband of the late Charlene H. Cleveland, died peacefully April 27, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 11, 1923, in North Newport, the son of Lewis R. and Mildred (Smith) Cleveland.
Errol graduated from N.H. Fay High School, Dexter, class of 1942. He was a 25 year member of South Sangerville Grange and a charter member of Bangor Jaycees. Errol was employed for 37 years by Leen’s Electric Motor Service and operated Errol Cleveland & Son, 1979-2012.
He is survived by daughter, Cheryl Gibbons and husband, Steven, of Camden; son, Lewis Cleveland and wife, Darlene, of Hudson; three grandsons, Steven Jay and Matthew David Gibbons, both of Camden and Tyler Lewis Cleveland and wife, Nicole, of Carmel; special friend, Adele Freitas; life long friend, Ken Littlefield; neighbors and good friends, Doug and Donna Comstock; five great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Charlene (Huntington) Cleveland in 2006.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Monday, May 6, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, with Rev. Russell J. Hamilton, pastor of Pilgrim Orthodox Presbyterian Church, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the service.
