Which is the more pressing problem the country faces: deficits and long-term debt or the current unemployment crisis? • “Deferring maintenance isn’t a savings. In fact it really ultimately, usually costs more in the long run. … A lot of the way agencies are saving their money to meet the rules of the sequester is by deferring maintenance. It’s a false economy in my view.”• “I think we have to be very careful about how we approach resolving the debt crisis and not try to do it too fast because of the potential for negative effects on the economy.”
