BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University women’s basketball team picked up two more in-state recruits Friday when Lake Region’s Kelsey Winslow and Mt. Blue’s Amy Hilton paid their initial deposits to attend the school this fall.

Winslow, a 5-foot-9 small forward, averaged 12 points and 9.5 rebounds per game for her senior season for the Lakers of Naples. She played four seasons for the basketball team and plans to study occupational therapy at Husson.

“Kelsey is an athletic, undersized post player with some creative move. She helped lead Lake Region to the Class B state game this season,” Husson women’s basketball coach Kissy Walker said. “Kelsey is a smart player, and defensively drew all the tough defensive assignments for her team.”

Hilton, a point guard, averaged 8.8 points, 4.6 assists and 2.7 steals a game for the Cougars of Farmington.

“Amy is a quick, steady point guard who defensively can really pressure the ball. We look forward to working with Amy for the next four years teaching her to direct our offense,” Walker said.

Other Maine players also attending Husson next fall are Presque Isle’s Chandler Guerrette, Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln’s Taylor Blood, Jonesport-Beals’ Morgan Merchant, Piscataquis of Guilford’s Jessica Bell and Washburn’s Rayah Saucier.
