Heart Ball to feature Diamond Hunt, live and silent auctions

ORONO — The 14th annual Heart Ball to benefit the American Heart Association will take place 6 p.m.-midnight Saturday, May 4, at Wells Conference Center, University of Maine. Proceeds from the the black tie affair supports research, education and advocacy to combat cardiovascular disease, a leading cause of death in Maine.

The gala event will feature a cocktail hour, dinner, live and silent auctions, and dancing to live music by the band NEVAH.

Attendees will vote for the best healthy heart dessert in a new competition.  Dysart’s, Frank’s Bakery, Izzy’s Catering, The Purple Pear and Sage Café will be among the competitors.

A lucky attendee will find a diamond in one of the champagne glasses to kick off the event.  Live auction items will include a trip to Cefalu, Sicily, an ice shack, Red Sox tickets, custom-built wine cabinets and more.

Tom Bennett of Bennett Auto Center will be presented with the 2013 Gold Heart Award for his philanthropic work in the community. Craig Colson, News Director and Anchor with WVII 7/Fox 22, will serve as emcee for the event.

Limited space is remaining for corporate sponsorships which include a table for eight guests and marketing benefits, as well as individual tickets. Area businesses also can show  support by donating an auction item.
The Heart Ball’s major sponsors are St. Joseph Healthcare and Hannaford Supermarkets. Media partners are the Bangor Daily News, 97.1 The Bear, and WVII 7/Fox 22.
