BANGOR, Maine — A man wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court on a gross sexual assault charge was arrested early Wednesday, police said.

Randy Ouellette, 29, of Hampden was indicted by the Penobscot County Grand Jury in February for a charge of gross sexual assault on a child, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Wednesday.

Ouellette had failed to show up for his court date and a warrant for his arrest had been issued, according to Edwards. The sergeant did not know when Ouellette was scheduled to appear before a judge.

Thanks to tips from the public, Brewer police were able to arrest Ouellette Wednesday morning, Edwards said. He is being held at the Penobscot County Jail.
