BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police and the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office will collaborate on an effort to prevent drug abuse this weekend by hosting a drug take-back event.
Sgt. Paul Edwards said the public will have an opportunity 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday to dispose of unwanted prescription medication at locations throughout Bangor.
Controlled, noncontrolled and over the counter substances may be collected, and medication can be disposed of in its original container. Liquid products such as cough syrup should remain sealed tightly to prevent leakage.
Due to potential hazard, injectable drugs and syringes will not be accepted. The service is free and anonymous.
