ORONO – June (Farren) Grant, 73, died peacefully April 22, 2013, at Dirigo Pines Retirement Community, Orono, after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born June 4, 1939, in Unionville, the daughter of the late Frank H. Farren Sr. and Vera (Morse) Farren.
After raising two children she worked for the town of Orono as deputy town clerk, deputy town treasurer and general assistance manager. Following retirement from the town office, June worked for Dr. Gary Farren for several more years.
Besides her husband of 55 years, Don of Orono, she is survived by her son, Jeffrey and wife, Wendy, of Belgrade. June is also survived by many cousins, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brother, Frank Farren Jr.; her parents; as well as daughter, Judi. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Dirigo Pines for making her last weeks as comfortable as possible.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at United Baptist Church, 86 Middle St., Old Town, with the Rev. Bruce Stevens, pastor, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the church hall immediately after the service Thursday. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Orono.
