MADAWASKA – Eugene Gendreau, 65, passed away April 21, 2013, at a Caribou health care facility. He was born May 30, 1947, in St. David, son of the late Paul and Gertie (Gendreau) Gendreau.
Gene was a lifetime member of American Legion, Thomas O. Cyr, Post No. 147, Madawaska, and a third degree member of Knights of Columbus, Council No. 2638, Madawaska. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, the Boston Red Sox but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and his extended family.
He is survived by daughter, Christina Beaulieu and husband, Freddie, of Rockland, Mass.; son, Eric Gendreau of Portland; three grandchildren, Chacity and Damien Gendreau and Elise Beaulieu; two sisters, Rachel Bechard and Rolande McWhinnie and husband, Rodney, all of Madawaska; four brothers, Lucien Gendreau of Bristol, Conn., Yvon Gendreau and wife, Simone, of Southington, Conn., Eldon Gendreau and Carl Gendreau and wife, Norma, all of Madawaska; his special friend, Vicky Kohr of Grand Isle; a brother-in-law, Claude Belanger of Ottawa; and several nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by his beloved wife, Monique (Belanger) Gendreau.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, at St. David Church. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, and 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Lajoie Funeral Home.
