Armed robbery reported at South Portland bank

Police say a white male, approximately 6’ tall, with a thin build, robbed a TB Bank branch on Market Street in South Portland on Monday.

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Local police are investigating a robbery that took place early Monday evening at the TD Bank location on Market Street.

The robbery happened about 5:28 p.m. when a man entered TD Bank’s branch at 9 Market St., approached a teller and demanded cash, according to a news release issued Monday night by South Portland police Sgt. Steve Webster.

According to police, the robber had a handgun in his possession during the heist. He received a small amount of cash before he fled the bank.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, black baseball hat, jeans and white sneakers. He also wore a mask that covered half his face and black mechanic-type gloves.
