By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

WATERVILLE, Maine — A physical fight between a Waterville man and his girlfriend led to his arrest, according to police.

Thomas Beaney, 48, had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend around 11 a.m. Saturday, Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said.

During the altercation at their residence, Beaney attempted to push the woman down a flight of stairs, the deputy chief said.

Beaney had left the scene by the time police had arrived, Rumsey said.

Beaney was found later Saturday and taken into custody around 7 p.m. He was charged with domestic violence assault, which was levied to a felony due to a conviction in 2009.

Rumsey did not have details of that incident.

Beaney remains at the Kennebec County Jail. His court date is May 14.
